Peg's Story

Picture
Peg grew up in Summerville, SC and graduated from Clemson University with a degree in Public Health in May 2008. She also swam for the varsity swim team the 4 years she attended. She recently graduated from MUSC and is now a board certified physician assistant.

Peg's life was radically changed her freshman year at Clemson as the Lord stripped away everything she once held precious. Through the truth of God's Word and the love and care of the body of Christ, she came to know Christ in an intimate relationship and He became her greatest Treasure. Christ began tearing down the strongholds of perfectionism, insecurity/comparison, and fear in Peg's life, and began replacing them with a heart of joy, encouragement, and peace. She is ever amazed that God has rescued her from bondage to sin and the pit of her own self destruction, to give her freedom and life in the ever present, undeserved, extravagent love of Christ.

Psalm 73:25-26
Whom have I in heaven but you?
And earth has nothing I desire besides you.
My flesh and my heart may fail,
but God is the strength of my heart
and my portion forever.

Psalm 40:1-3
I waited patiently for the Lord;
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.

Joshua's Story

Picture
Joshua also grew up in Summerville, SC and is a graduate from Clemson University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After college, Joshua worked for 2 years as an engineering project manager for Duke Energy in Seneca, SC.  Joshua clearly felt the Lord leading him to leave his job, and in obedience he began preparations to serve a 2 year commitment as a Journeyman in India. Though this was a difficult decision at first because his worth was valued in academic and career success, God opened his eyes to see that true success is not in worldly temprary pursuits, but only what will live on in eternity.

Joshua lived and worked in an Indian city of 5 million people from January 2009 through August 2010, mentoring college students and young men who desired to know God and His Word and grow in living out their faith. Joshua is passionate about teaching and equipping others to understand the glorious truths of Scripture and apply it in practical ways to their daily lives.

Though Joshua surrendered his life to Christ at an early age, it wasn't until older godly men began to mentor and pour into him during his years at Clemson that he really began to experience the joy and freedom of walking daily with the Lord and His Word. By living in open community with other brothers in Christ and experiencing the transforming power of God's Word, the once prideful, anxious, and shy boy grew to depend upon the Lord, trust His provision rather than self, and to be a bold witness as a man of God.

1 Corinthians 2:1-5
When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on men’s wisdom, but on God’s power.

Our Story

Picture
Though we grew up in the same town, attending the same high school, we did not meet each other until college. Joshua vividly remembers meeting Peg at a Campus Crusade for Christ weekly meeting, though she cannot remember the event! During Peg's junior year, we began to spend time with one another ministering to international students on campus.  By this point the Lord had grown in each of us a passion and love for the people of India. We both worked amongst the Indian community at Clemson but were simply friends.  During a trip to the Timm's mountain house with Indian students Joshua began pursuing Peg and they began dating soon after before Peg's graduation from Clemson. Over the next 6 months, the Lord made clear that He was calling us to one another but we first would have to endure nearly 2 years of long distance as Joshua served in India. Joshua humbly asked Peg to wait for him and she gladly accepted. Though one of the most challenging seasons, God used this season apart to knit our hearts with Himself and one another and we feel confident going into marriage that if He can sustain us through the stresses of around-the-world long distance, He will sustain us by His power till death do us part!
